Not Guilty Your Honor

About us

For five years, my circumstances demanded that I share a ten by thirteen foot cell with the same individual for at least seventeen hours a day. Some days were tolerable while others were unbearable. Due to the fact that we were always wishing we were somewhere else, it is hard to refer to any of those days as pleasant. Yet, over time and against all odds, we became friends; and we remain friends today.

After my release i spent days and weeks wandering around not knowing what to do with myself. My old rack mate was released six months later.  Shortly after his release, we shared our first beer together in a nearby bar, surrounded by activity, talking about old times, stories we heard, experiences we shared. For the first time i experienced not only the gratitude for my freedom but the freedom i could now share with another.

From then on we met at least twice a week sharing many such beers and even more conversations. One of our chosen topics, on many occasions, was how to develop a form of communication for like minded souls such as ourselves. So we came up with the idea of a social networking site.

You see, we realized that our situation was unique. Due to the closeness of our release dates, my life of freedom had not carried me so far away that it was impossible, or even difficult, for my friend to establish contact once he walked through the gate.

There are a large number of reasons that it is difficult for us to re-establish contact with our friends from the inside once we have    moved over to the right side of the wall. Freedom takes us in many different directions, life gets busy, and “society” would rather not have us “fraternizing”. My friend and I realized this, and developed this site for the sole purpose of facilitating contact with our people from the inside, who are sometimes the greatest friends we will ever have. Society tells us that we should stay away from each other, and always hang our heads and act like we are “less than”. And we say “hell no”! If you’re free, act like it!

We have paid our price to society and want a second chance at life .We decided the purpose of the site should not only be to re-establish old contacts from ones past but also to be as informative as possible in helping each other in the outside world.

So please, tell your stories, share videos ,blogs ,contact each other . Tell us about rehabilitation and how life can be a success.

Today we are successful men because we are free men. For our friends behind the wall, this site may help you to keep in contact with the outside world or even those friends who have been moved to different institutions.
